On Saturday October 2, Robert Herjavic a Dragon on CBC’s Dragon’s Den was doing a book signing for his new book “Driven”. As a huge fan of the show, I ran out (well my boyfriend did) to go out and purchase Herjavic’s book. As a young entrepreneur I have found the book very interesting and helpful, mixed with personal stories, past work experience and stories from the den.
I was very excited while waiting in line to meet Mr. Herjavic and just to even have a minute of his time. To my surprise when I shook his hand he said he recognized me! I was shocked and confused. He pointed out that I follow him on twitter and he recognized my face from my twitter picture. With over 7,000 followers I was surprised but pleased that he recognized me. For those of you who are avid users of social media it is nice to know that our tweets do get recognized.
Mr. Herjavic was very friendly and kind (looking much younger in person). He gave every fan there a few minutes of his time. Though I would really have enjoyed some more time with him, what entrepreneur wouldn’t?
I am addicted to both Dragon’s Den and Shark’s Tank. (However, I enjoy Dragon’s Den, more which is shocking that a Canadian show beats out an American show for me.) I think the show is great for both the entrepreneurs who try out for the show as well as the viewers. It gives people a great insight into how much money and time they should or in some cases should not put into their business.
As a young entrepreneur, running a successful business with my mom and sister, I am really enjoying Mr. Herjavic’s book. As most are referring to it as an immigrant’s story from rags to riches it is so much more than that. It really focuses on how to build, run, sustain and grow your business regardless of your nationality or financial upbringing.
